A classic Queen
Anne, the Hersey House was built by Samuel and
Emily Hersey in 1898. Mr. Hersey was a partner
of Issac Staples who owned and operated the
Staples, Bean & Hersey Logging Company in
the 1880s.
Beautiful, decorative layers of millwork adorn
the steeply gabled roof trusses, squared tower,
balcony, and veranda. The clapboard siding is
typical of Queen Anne stick style homes of the
era. Gardens and lawns interspersed with walkways
and benches create a lovely outdoor retreat
for guests.
Lovingly renovated in 2002 by Judy Tauber, the
rooms are clean, spacious, and elegant. The
hallways and open balconies offer quiet getaways
for reading and reflecting. Two angled stairways
and connecting rooms offer easy access throughout
the home. Large etched glass windows in the
front room and parlor fill the house with light.
Four ample sized bedrooms are situated to ensure
privacy.
