The Issac and
Olivia Staples Bedroom, also known as the Rosebud
Room was originally the children’s nursery
as it is connected to the Master Bedroom Suite.
The furniture is a mixture of old and really
old. The bedstead is wrought iron in a rose
design. The armoire is vintage late 1800s and
was purchased from a former Minnesota resident
who was moving to California.
Original woodwork and doors grace this room.
The Queen Anne style of the house is accentuated
with many windows and pitched walls. It is a
favorite of family and guests alike as it is
so light and airy. The color pink was chosen
because it matched a doll’s dress that
was gifted to me many years ago by my friend
Roselyn.
The town site of Mora was donated by the Staples,
Bean and Hersey Logging Company. The land on
which this house was built was deeded to Mr.
and Mrs. Samuel Hersey in 1879 and the house
completed in 1898. Through it's history the
house has been a duplex, a rooming house for
men.....and it is rumored to have housed “Ladies
of the Night”.
